The One that comes to us ...

“But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility by abolishing the law of commandments expressed in ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace, and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross ..."
 (Ephesians 2:14-16 ESV)

To the questioner and the seeker … He offers the treasure of that He is (Matthew 7:7).  To the wise … He offers the foolishness of Jesus Christ which could save them (Romans 1:16).  To the foolish, enslaved, deceived and sinful … He offers grace, kindness and relationship through Jesus Christ (Titus 3:3-8).   To the spiritual … He offers the true Holy Spirit which is the Spirit of Truth (John 14:16-17). To the lonely … He offers to abide with them always and forever (Matthew 28:20).  To the repentant … He offers forgiveness and his presence (Revelation 3:20). To the faithful … He offers a throne (Revelation 3:21).  The One that comes to us is a wonderful Savior and God and He comes to all of us. He meets us at the spot we seek Him and He brings all that we uniquely need.

It seems to me,  that it is quite remarkable that the Creator God sees us as His creation and He meets us wherever we are.  Maybe that is why He is the Good Shepherd.  Maybe that is why,  He leads us to places that both restore and give rest.  In the end,  maybe that is why those that come along with Him find their cup overflowing now and forever.  So then, I wonder why so it is so hard for people to follow a Savior that gives so much?  Maybe it has nothing to do with Him but with us. Maybe it has simply to do with our pride, selfishness and sin.   He even has an answer to that … it is a Savior dying on the cross and being raised up in victory.  Come again to the foot of the cross, lay your life down there and walk away with the victory of the resurrection and the presence of the Savior and the Shepherd.

“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever” (Psalm 23:6 ESV).
