Is
there a greater purpose to the things we do, than in us doing them? Millions of people go to church because they
feel they have to and millions more feel guilty when they do not go, because they
would rather do other things. The purpose
of fellowshipping with other believers while worshipping God is the purpose of
going to church. It a place we gather to
be taught, encouraged and convicted by God’s Spirit, while we praise and
worship our Creator and Savior. The
Sabbath is a day to slow down, change from the ordinary and realize our greatest
gift, is our salvation and our greatest purpose, is to be thankful and honor
the One that saves us.
Any
rules about the Sabbath, whether man-made or self- imposed … are just rules. There
is no life in them, just there was no
life in the countless rules added by the Pharisees and rigidly adhered to during
the time of Jesus. Our purpose and our
worship are from God and unto God. We honor Christ with our worship when we
come together and every day in what we do by making Him Lord of our lives.
“Then
he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath”
(Mark 2:27-28 NIV).
