“Come now, let us reason together, says
the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow; though
they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool. If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat
the good of the land; but if you refuse and rebel, you shall be eaten by the
sword; for the mouth of the Lord has spoken” (Isaiah 1:18-20 ESV).
How can it be, that the Holy God
Almighty can endure our foolishness, our sin, our evil selfish rebellion and
yet beckon us to come to Him? He waits and waits for us and when we come, extends grace to make
us anew? It is beyond my understanding … it is beyond my scope of reason. There is no other place in any realm, system,
government, relationship or friendship
where the innocent and righteous offended, lovingly beckons the offender with
rescue, restoration and blessing. This kind of love, this kind of patience, this kind of grace, this kind of relationship is only found in the loving Father God who in grace through Jesus
the Son gives us relationship with Him.
No other judge, authority or king even
extends a summons with any hint of desire to reason, understand, listen much less redeem and recreate pure from soiled. Many judges might summon with pending condemnation and judgment but who else
beckons with the grace filled promise of complete redeeming recreation from all
sin, shame and failure?
Our God is a Righteous and Holy Judge
that somehow in grace calls us, the hopeless offending sinner, extending again and again an ever forgiving, ever empowering and ever creating pardon, secure in His
steadfast love. Beyond this living rescuing pardon … He also deeds over all the
inheritance of the riches and blessings that come from dwelling in the promised land as His child. Our God is amazing. He gives
amazing grace to all who come to Him. Amazing, just amazing.
