“For
you have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from
stumbling; I will walk before the Lord in the land of the living” (Psalm116:8-9
ESV).
It is a simple little phrase. It is not complicated or difficult to understand
but it is critical and vital to the daily interactive refreshing and renewing encounters
we have with our Lord in the everlasting relationship we have as followers of Jesus
Christ. We remember the past by reflecting on the watchful care of the Lord in
protecting and providing for us. We remember
His Word as we hold it in assurance in dealing with troubles, despair and
difficulties. We simply trust and
obey. It is that simple. We can trust everything about our Lord … every
word, every promise and every hope. It
is from a thankful heart that we rest and rejoice in the Lord. For He is gracious, righteous and merciful
and holds us securely as our Father, even when we cannot understand. Trust and obey. Is there any other way to
live?
When
we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What
a glory He sheds on our way!
While
we do His good will, He abides with us still,
And
with all who will trust and obey.
Trust
and obey, for there's no other way
To
be happy with Jesus, but to trust and obey.
Not
a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share,
But
our toil He doth richly repay;
Not
a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross,
But
is blessed if we trust and obey.
Trust
and obey, for there's no other way
To
be happy with Jesus, but to trust and obey.
But
we never can prove the delights of His love
Until
all on the altar we lay;
For
the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows,
Are
for them who will trust and obey.
Trust
and obey, for there's no other way
To
be happy with Jesus, but to trust and obey.
Then
in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet.
Or
we'll walk by His side in the way.
What
He says we will do, where He sends we will go;
Never
fear, only trust and obey. John H.
