“Day after day every priest stands and
performs his religious duties; again and again he offers the same sacrifices,
which can never take away sins. But when this priest had offered for all time
one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, and since that
time he waits for his enemies to be made his footstool. For by one sacrifice he
has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.” (Hebrews 10:11-14,
NIV)
In the times of the Old Testament, it
was a monumental task to being the offerings to the altar for the people. There were sacrificial offerings for
offending sins, unintentional sins and the defilement from sins, atonement, and
forgiveness from sins and for restitution.
Offerings were also given as worship, praise, devotion, commitment, recognition
of God's goodness and provisions and in devotion to God. All of these offerings
required sacrifice of grain and the blood of animals. There was always another sacrifice and the continuous need for another sacrifice. In Jesus
Christ the sacrifice was been laid on the altar once and for all time. Christ's death secured atonement for all the sin of the world
for all time. Not only to secure through
His sacrifice all offending sin, but to forever atone and sanctify all worship,
praise and thankfulness for all those He redeemed.
In mercy, we been cleansed from all sin
and in grace we have an advocate with power that knows exactly how we feel and
the intensity of all our struggles while supplying the power through His Spirit
to live the abundant life He has given us.
His compassion completely melds His victorious sacrifice over our sins
with His tender loving heart to stand with us in His abiding while interceding for
us as our advocate. This sacrifice by
our Lord secures our position in faith in a "new and living way" through grace for all
time and all people. Do not step back
from what you have been given in Christ but rather walk with confidence in the
faith He has given you.
“For we do not have a high priest who is
unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted
in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God’s
throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to
help us in our time of need (Hebrews 4:15-16).
