Belief and faith in the Living God

What is faith? Is it simply a belief, a belief in a higher power such as a god? Yet a belief in a god, as an idol even made of the costliest of materials is nothing more than a faith in the materials and thus lifeless … for the god cannot see, speak, hear or breathe (Psalm 135:15-18). The belief may be strong but the faith is empty.

Even if the belief is in a Living God but the lack of faith to follow Him prevents action … then is it real belief?  The belief and the faith remain empty, devoid of the power of the God that hears, sees, speaks and lives.

God shows us His power and love that we might believe.  Thus He secures and anchors our belief and He gives us faith that we might follow in the provision and deliverance, He provides.  We believe and follow in faith because He is the Living God.

“He remembered us in our low estate, His love endures forever. He freed us from our enemies. His love endures forever.  He gives food to every creature. His love endures forever. Give thanks to the God of heaven. His love endures forever.” (Psalm 136:23-26).
