The flavor of the salt.

Countless millions of words will be spoken today and of those words … millions will be spoken with intentional purpose.  Some will be spoken in rebuke of others, some will be judgmental in tone and focus and some will be spoken in love.  These words will be spoken as friends, coaches, counselors, pastors, teachers, parents, siblings and peers. Some will offer perspective and guidance but mostly they will hurt or fall flat, if the motives are not pure in their intent and the help is not true in its purpose.

We all need salvation from God and encouraging help from others. As Christians and people of faith, we are called to encourage, comfort and love others. These sharing actions will bring life to others but only when the grace that saves us becomes the grace we bring as flavor to everyone we encounter will it be light to them. The light must come from the Light of the world. The salt we become …  as we love others, must always have the flavor of Christ’s love.  We must be a light that shines with the grace and hope of Jesus Christ. For a light that doesn't give direction towards the true path is just a bothersome glowing annoyance and salt that doesn't have the flavor of salt is just an irritating chemical. srm

“Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can you make it salty again? Have salt among yourselves, and be at peace with each other.” (Mark 9:50 NIV)
